Was just so perfect ! Best location with so much nature which was so refreshing , ect really comfortable beds , friendly an warm staff an lovely decor . We had 2 rooms with lovely bathrooms one having a walk in shower an another with a bath and shower . We found best of all was the breakfast which we actually got last minute when paying for the room as it was more discounted than wanting the breakfast on the day and it was so so worth it ! really gorgeous set up and lovely food , we have all been wanting to go again even if the location is far from us in being in Liverpool but it honestly was that good ! Even within the hotel it was like a little village with grass , trees , benches , a well and Lilly pond which was such a nice place to wonder round We went the day before camping at Creamfields and we ended up forgetting what we come for an would of been happy after our one night stay there at just the hotel . Most definitely coming back an already recommended to so many !

The Hotel is very conveniently situated for London, being just off the A12, South of Chelmsford. There is no rush to book in or out as checking in is from 3pm and checking out up to 11am. The room and ensuite were spacious, clean and well furnished. Breakfast was buffet style - extensive continental style cold buffet together with a hot buffet. Both were well organised with hot plates for the hot food which was kept topped up. The cold buffet was kept cold and the juice jugs were kept in iced cold water so that everything was fresh. Staff were very helpful in providing and topping up hot drinks.

All the staff members were extremely friendly and welcoming. I must say by far probably one of the best customer services received, even better than other hotels of higher star rating and that says a lot! The room was spacious and it even had a sofa. There was a huge variety of breakfast options and even a full English breakfast (a vegetarian option was available); they even had alternative milk for coffee/teas. The walk through the car park led to a pavilion which had a lovely view of the hills and sunset.

Good situation. I’m sure that they were glad that Booking.com didn’t cancel our visit like they did the previous day to our visit to the Centennial hotel, saying that my card was invalid, causing me to rebook, using the SAME CARD, and having to pay an extra £30 which slightly negates any savings with that company. Have tried to get in touch with Booking.com but they don’t seem to want to know, surprise, surprise. Apologies to Ivy Hill who were excellent, but Booking.com are a load of crap!

Friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and service was always provided with a genuine smile. The hotel bar, lounge and breakfast room are really nicely laid out and the gardens are lovely to wander in to. Super comfy beds and proper bath size fluffy towels. Tasty breakfast with good selection of cooked and continental options, pastries, fruit & cereal.
